Improvements to Okfuskee Community softball fields passed committee
OKMULGEE, Oklahoma — A Muscogee (Creek) Nation National Council Health, Education and Welfare and Land, Natural Resources and Cultural Preservation Committee held a joint committee meeting Jan. 22 at the Mound Building in Okmulgee.
HEW/LNC addressed the following legislation, the interpretation of which is attributed to language in the bills:
TR 19-013 Authorizing renovation to the Wetumka Indian Community Building. Rep. Thomasene Yahola Osborn sponsored the resolution, which passed 9-0.
The resolution allows for the renovation of the WICC with the removal a permanent wall that will be replaced with an accordion wall in order to expand the center’s meeting area.
TR 19-014 Authorizing construction to the Okfuskee Indian Community softball fields. Rep. Lucian Tiger sponsored the resolution, which passed 9-0.
The resolution will allow the OIC to improve their softball field by installing lights around the field and electrical hook-ups under the arbor.
NCA 19-014 Appropriating $49,307 for renovation to the Wetumka Indian Community Center. Yahola Osborn sponsored the amendment, which passed 9-0.
NCA 19-015 Authorizing a special $29,908.50 appropriation to the Okfuskee Indian Community. Tiger sponsored the amendment, which passed 9-0
Both NCA 19-014 and 19-015 authorize funding for both resolutions, which will be interest on the Permanent Fund.
