OKMULGEE, Oklahoma — An agenda posted this morning for a Muscogee (Creek) Nation National Council Emergency Session at 6 p.m. this evening features NCA 18-180 which proposes to move the department from independent executive agencies to under the MCN Department of Commerce.

This would effectively remove oversight by the MM Editorial Board governed by Society of Professional Journalists and Native American Journalists Association ethics.

The bill was introduced by the Council and the vote tonight will be final.

Mvskoke Media has reached out to Reps. Adam Jones, Pete Beaver and James Jennings as well as MCN Principal Chief James Floyd and will continue to pursue more information.

The Citizens of MCN will not let the Executive and Legislative Branch take the "Freedom of Press" away from us. They need to be reminded of this by passing a referendum to repeal the bill that censors Mvskoke Media! Citizens we need to RESIST this type of legislation. This legislation raises many questions as WHY? I’m sure as citizens we all have our own opinions. We need to hear from the National Council Representatives who voted for this and why the Chief signed it immediately. Elected officials tell us WHY????
