Latest upgrade brings light to a dark place
OKMULGEE, Oklahoma — Heading into the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association basketball playoffs, several sites were named as host sites for the basketball teams.
The Muscogee (Creek) Nation Mvskoke Dome was one of the locations. It was selected as the Class B Regional Site and Class 3A Area Site for the playoffs.
When MCN Tourism and Recreation Director Kyle Lee were given notification that they would be hosting games, he knew the hard work it would take to get the Dome playoff ready.
Lee felt the Dome needed one more upgrade before the games started.
“We spoke to several people who said the lighting could be brighter here,” he said.
He took those suggestions and rolled with it and he said it is all coming to light, no pun intended.
“One comment we heard was that it was dark in the Dome,” Lee said.
He said between the county tournament and playoffs they installed lights five times brighter than before.
“That way the teams, referees and everyone can see the games a lot better,” Lee said. “Gives a better experience at the Dome for everyone.”
Lee said everyone at TR are full of ideas for was the facility can be doing.
“We are going to keep growing and the upgrades make this place look great,” he said.
Lee said they appreciate everyone’s support during the time the Dome was closed for the upgrades.
“Thank you all for being patient with us during the upgrades,” he said. “We know we had to close a lot of times but these upgrades are all for long-term and goals and successes here.”
