Remember, we can start over, and the finish line, whatever it may be, is our success.

If you needed a change, can you start over in your life?

OKMULGEE, Oklahoma — I love boxing. I remember watching it for the first time with my uncle when I was 9-years-old. Everything about it is great. The stamina of each fighter, the chess match and most of all, the hours and hours of training to get to that point.

I love to watch all kinds of boxing. From the shows that are here in Oklahoma to watching legends put on boxing clinics against mixed martial arts fighters who claim they own boxing.

Even the training to get ready, I watch those as well.

Any boxing event is great to me.

Recently, Mvskoke Media hired a person who’s background is boxing. So he turned out to be an immediate friend to me.

There are sometimes when people will ask for my help when it comes to boxing and I can see some mistakes that they have, but all this time I began to get lackadaisical with it myself.

So I asked if he would help me out. Sure enough when we started training we went back to the basics. I mean the very basics. My footwork was horrible.

It bothered me that I had let it get that bad but overall I was very happy to start doing this again. It was fun. Tiring, but fun.

After working out and getting some homework for me to do away from the gym it helped me to realize some things.

My training, like certain obstacles in life, is a do-over or a start over. I can begin again.

When there are certain things in our lives that throws us off, we can always start over and figure out where to improve.

Just because we mess up does not mean it is the end. It means we need to rethink the situation.

I remember someone telling me about when they started over…in life. He said it was not easy but he knew that he had to do it.

He said that after his divorce he wallowed in self-pity for months after it happened. He had his friends there for support, but it was to no avail.

Finally, he let all the emotions out he held in since the divorce. He said he cried and cried for what seemed like days.

After the tears, he remembered that it was time to start over. He needed to do things that would help him to be the better person.

He changed his career, which was no easy task. He said that the hard part was leaving the comforts and starting something new, but he knew it was for the best.

He told me it took some time, but it helped him appreciate everything and especially appreciate himself as a human being.

Now, he is happy once again and enjoying life.

Here are two quotes that I found for everyone that pertains to this subject. My first quote is from author Richelle E. Goodrich.

“It isn’t always a change of scenery needed to make life better. Sometimes it simply requires opening your eyes.”

My last one came from German philosopher, Meister Eckhart.

“Be willing to be a beginner every single morning.”

Whatever situation you have in your life, we all have the power to start over. We all have the opportunity to be better.

If you want a change, start over. If you mess up with something, start over.

Remember, we can start over, and the finish line, whatever it may be, is our success.

Have a great one everybody and I love you all. Take care!
