OKMULGEE, Oklahoma — A Muscogee (Creek) Nation National Council Business, Finance and Justice Committee meeting was held Nov. 9 at the Mound Building in Okmulgee.

All passed legislation went before the full Council during the regular session Nov. 21.

BFJ addressed the following legislation, the interpretation of which is attributed to language in the bills:

NCA 17-215 Authorizing the expenditure of $5,000 from the Native Community Development Financial Institution Network Leadership mini- grant to the Mvskoke Loan Fund for the purchase of software and leadership development. Randall Hicks sponsored the resolution, which passed 4-0.

This amendment allows MLF to spend grant money for the purchase of software to improve efficiency of the department.

NCA 17-216 Authorizing a $7,500 appropriation to the MCN Tourism and Recreation Department for the benefit of the Fountainhead Creek Golf Course. Rep. Dode Barnett sponsored the resolution, which passed 4-0.

The funds will allow for the control of feral hogs that are causing damage to the golf course property.

Legislation referred to BFJ by the Health, Education and Welfare Committee, Land, Natural Resources and Cultural Preservation Committee and any joint committees for the funding source were approved.

NCA 12-217 will be funded through the Economic Development and Land Acquisitions Account.

All other legislation will be funded with the Permanent Fund Account.

Rep. Adam Jones was not in attendance.
