Community center asks for further repairs
OKMULGEE, Oklahoma — A joint committee session of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Council Health, Education and Welfare Committee and Land, Natural Resources and Cultural Preservation Committee was held Oct. 17 at the Mound Building in Okmulgee.
All legislation passed during the session will go before the full Council Oct. 28 for vote. Mvskoke Media will provide coverage of this session.
HEW/LNC addressed the following legislation, the interpretation of which is attributed to language in the bills:
NCA 17-196 Amending NCA 17-010 (A law of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation appropriating funds in order to complete the basement kitchen remodel at the Checotah Community Center. Rep. Darrell Proctor sponsored the amendment, which passed 6-0.
NCA 17-010 authorized an appropriation of funds in order to complete a basement and kitchen renovation at Checotah Indian Community Center. All renovations have been completed on the basement and kitchen at the facility with funds remaining from the original appropriation.
Additional renovations are recommended on the outside and front part of the building and the community is requesting to use the remaining funds for that purpose.
Reps. Del Beaver, Joyce Deere and Mitch Jack were absent.
