OKMULGEE, Oklahoma — The Muscogee (Creek) Nation National Council Business, Finance and Justice Committee and Land, Natural Resources and Cultural Preservation Committee held a joint meeting Sept. 25 at the Mound Building in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

All legislation passed during the session will go before the full Council Sept. 29 for vote. Mvskoke Media will provide coverage of this session.

BFJ/LNC addressed the following legislation, the interpretation of which is attributed to language in the bill:

TR 18-115 Authorizing the principal chief to execute an owner’s representative agreement with Onefire Property Management, LLC, for the benefit of MCN. Rep. David Hill sponsored the resolution, which passed 6-0.

The MCN is the owner of certain properties:

  1. Holiness to the Lord Ministries, Inc. 8600 S. Lewis Ave. E. Tulsa Oklahoma, 74137,
  2. El Samboristo 8700 S. Lewis Ave. E. Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74137
  3. Southwood Landscape and Nursery Co., Inc. 9025 S. Lewis Ave. Tulsa Oklahoma, 74137

MCN believes Onefire Property Management should be managing the locations. OFPM has the authority to enter into the owner’s representative agreement, which allows OFPM to enter into agreements with any tribal government.

The committee went into executive session and everyone had to leave the room at that time and recordings had to be turned off.

Reps. Patrick Freeman, Adam Jones and Darrell Proctor were absent.
