Darrell Proctor II/MNYC Speaker

OKMULGEE, Oklahoma — Hensci! It has been a great month for the Mvskoke Nation Youth Council (MNYC). Our Christmas Bingo was a huge success. We would like to thank everyone who came out to support us as well as all of our volunteers. We will continue to work towards creating different projects and events, and appreciate all the support, encouragement and funding we receive throughout the year.

On Dec. 21, the Mvskoke Nation Youth Services worked to coordinate groups of youth to serve lunch to the elders at the MCN Elderly Nutrition Programs. We enjoyed visiting and serving the elders and look forward to volunteering again. Thank you to the Mvskoke Nation Youth Council and JOM students from Coweta, Henryetta and Wetumka, as well as the newly formed Wetumka Native Youth Council for adopting their local nutrition sites.

We would like to congratulate the Wetumka Native Youth Council on creating their bylaws and electing their officers. As of Dec. 30, they are an official youth council. We can’t wait to see what great things they will do in their community.

We would also like to welcome our newly elected MNYC officers: Alexis McHenry as second speaker, Karen McGirt as treasurer, Joseph Kahbeah as sergeant at arms and Erin Bunner as public relations officer.

Congratulations to Rachael Sourjohn on being nominated for an Impact Award and being recognized for her work with the Tulsa Teen Pregnancy Prevention Coalition.

Finally, the MNYC would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year!

Mvtekusen makit! Mvto!
