OKMULGEE, Okla. — The Nuyaka Bridge, which is located around 14.5 miles west of Okmulgee, is in the process of being dismantled and removed from the site.

According to previous Mvskoke Media coverage, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation approved the bridge or replacement, and Okmulgee County District Attorney Rob Barris has authorized reconstruction of it within the City of Okmulgee.

A proposed plan is to incorporate the bridge into a walking or bike trail.

According to the ODOT Adopt-A-Bridge Program, the bridge was built in 1908.
