Voters can still register to vote through October

OKMULGEE, Oklahoma — New leadership for the Muscogee Creek Nation will be voted on soon, and if you missed out in voting in the primary election, there is still time to register to vote in the upcoming general election.
“We had approximately 5,000 citizens vote in the recent primary election,” said MCN Election Board Manager, Nelson Harjo. “This is a record number of voters for an election and I feel that the push from our media organizations and early in person voting had a lot to do with the success of this election.”
This was the first year that the MCN Election Board has allowed for early in-person voting.
“When reviewing some studies, they showed that more people are apt to vote if they are allowed more than one day to do so, so that is when we began the discussion of allowing for early voting within the current election,” said Harjo. “We opened up the polls prior to the actual election day to allow citizens to cast their ballots ‘early’ to give them more chances to cast their ballot and it proved to be very successful.”
