OKMULGEE, Oklahoma — A social media post was making its way through Facebook shares and views Aug. 9.

Since then, the link has been taken down, but the image appeared to show a Muscogee (Creek) Nation employee taking a picture of herself. Under the picture the employee used a racial slur while wearing an MCN uniform.

On Aug. 10, the MCN Human Resources Department issued a memo regarding the Nation’s social media policy.

The policies are located on the MCN website.

It states ‘employees should not engage in any online conduct that would not be acceptable or appropriate in the workplace.’ In addition, ‘employer reserves the right to monitor the employee use of any social media and take appropriate action with respect to inappropriate or unlawful postings.’

MCN Public Relations issued a statement to Mvskoke Media regarding the incident.

‘The Muscogee (Creek) Nation is aware of the post on social media and acted accordingly per policy.’
