TULSA, Oklahoma-Christmas is just a mere 106 days away, and with the Christmas holidays comes the sights and sounds of one of the most famous ballets of all time, The Nutcracker.

This year The Nutcracker turns 50 and the Tulsa Ballet is already gearing up for this special occasion by holding open auditions for the children’s roles on Sunday, Sept. 15 from 1:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., at the Tulsa Ballet’s Hardesty Center for Dance Education Broken Arrow Campus (1901 W New Orleans Street, Broken Arrow).

“What fills me with joy at every performance of The Nutcrackeris experiencing the concentration and focus of the children in the cast,” said Tulsa Ballet Artistic Director Marcello Angelini.  “They seem to grow and mature with each rehearsal and each performance, making the experience memorable as well as pivotal for their education.”

Roles will include those of Baby Clowns, Mice, Soldiers, Party Scene Children, as well as the lead roles of Marie and Fritz. There are specific requirements for some of the roles.

“The chance to perform in Tulsa Ballet’s performance of The Nutcrackeris a learning opportunity like no other.  What a treat to be able to rehearse and perform alongside Tulsa Ballet’s gracious and inspiring dancer.” Angelini said.

There is an audition fee of $10; maximum of $20 for families of two or more children. Children must also be currently enrolled in ballet or gymnastics classes. For more information go to The Tulsa Ballet.
